There
is a project underway in Omaha to errect an Airborne Memorial in the Heartland
of America Park. Airborne soldiers are made up of Parachutists, Glidermen, Air
Assault Troopers and Rangers, and all are volunteers. At times they are asked
to do the impossible, but do it anyway. This Memorial will honor all of these
soldiers past, present and future.
In
the past three years Omaha has hosted the reunions of the 11th Airborne in 1997,
the 101st Airborne in 1998, and the 82nd Airborne in 1999.
Several
members of the Airborne have been working on a memorial for all Airborne soldiers,
along with John Lajba, Artist and Sculpturer,
At
his time they would like to ask the Airborne and Omaha communities to join in
and help with the memorial project. As a fundraiser they will be selling
